Kelly Clarkson, an American singer-songwriter and actress who won the American Idol competition in its first season, became America's Sweetheart. This win catapulted Clarkson into notoriety and led to an agreement with RCA Records 19 Recordings, and 'S Records. Since then she has recorded numerous studio albums, three of which topped the US Billboard 200' chart and the rest of her albums just did not make it to the top. She is among the most popular artists who made it through American Idol. To achieve her success she experimented with different musical styles, and explored subjects. Her uniqueness and vocal talent earned her praise from critics and a number of prestigious awards. She has also received the Grammy Award a record three times. In addition to her musical professional career, she has worked in film and TV. She also wrote the kids' novel River Rose and the Magical Lullaby as well as been associated with a number of charities.
