Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and a businesswoman. She's co-founder and director of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington, a non-profit liberal news website has a TV personality, author, and charitable donor. Born in Greece she moved to England in the year 16 after which she graduated at the age of 16 from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. In the beginning, as the only non-English student to graduate, she was voted as president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Then she became a conservative syndicated journalist after graduating and, with The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online platform to voice opinions that gave criticisms of the political landscape. Her celebrity status helped her to get a number of prominent contributors to post their views on politics news and culture. Arianna was famous after she was elected independently in a recall contest in California in order to take over the position of Governor Davis. Apart from this she also directed the Detroit project to promote fuel efficient cars. Her rank was 12th on Forbes' list of the most influential female journalists. That same year, Guardian listed her among the 100 top media figures. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as director of its media company with additional AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. The couple she was born to were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Though she shared a kinship friendship with both her mother and father the bond between them which helped mold her. In her earliest years she demonstrated the ability to lead that is well-known. She moved to England at 16 to continue her education and was enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. While in college she was a member of the college debate Society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. In 1972she received an MA in Economics. She became a writer, a critic in the media, as well as host of a television show and as a columnist shortly after her graduation. Also, she appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using his editing assistance.
